Summary
- A finished animatic for a short film.
- I hope to accomplish a finished animatic for a short film.
- The keys to success for the project include
Product
- A short animated film animatic (animated storyboard). The film will be tentatively titled “The Cricket Of The Opera”.
- Technology used: Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Wacom tablet
Market Analysis
- Audience: I plan to market the film as a family-friendly feature, though I believe there is also appeal for animation students and the general artistic community.
- References: It is rather influenced after the experimental short films of Chuck Jones, such as “One Froggy Evening” and “The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics”, as well as the book “The Cricket In Times Square” by George Selden. It is also modeled after animated short films shown on Newgrounds.com.
Strategy and Implementation
- Breakdown: Week 1: First draft sketches
Week 2: Rough animatic using said sketches, review with professor
Week 3: Revisions, cleaned-up drawings
Week 4: Second animatic review
Week 5: Final revisions, cleanup
- Programs used: Adobe Flash, Photoshop
- Product Niche: Short film enthusiasts, animation students.
Deliverables
- A DVD of the film could be burned, or a digital ZIP file could be produced, at the decision of the consumer. Copies of the original sketches and drawings could be provided in a pamphlet, if requested.
Conclusion
- I hope to learn more about the process of professional storyboarding and animatic techniques, as well as advanced storytelling abilities.
- I plan to use the finished animatic as a base for a finished animated film.
